A few weeks ago, my mom received a copy of One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I picked it up on Sunday, and within the first two chapters, found things shifting into focus. Oh what joy thanksgiving can bring to the heart! And how fulfilled I have found myself in giving thanks. More contented than I could have imagined. So present in the moment when I simply ask Him to open my eyes to the thousands of blessings He has showered upon me. Perhaps Veggie Tales got closer to the heart of the matter than I ever knew in Madame Blueberry.
Because a thankful heart is a happy heart, I'm glad for what I have, that's an easy way to start.
And when I start there, the blessings just seem to multiply. As He's opened my eyes to the simple beauty around me, I have been awed and humbled by the love He shows me every moment. Some moments it's easier to see, but always it is there.
