This past Friday and Saturday, I went to a conference called Leadership Rocks. One word? Wow. We talked about how to think, dream, and lead like Jesus. Ed Newton and Brent Crowe were the speakers, and both are phenomenal storytellers. That made the sessions fun, but for me, it also made the messages stick. The conference lasted less than 24 hours, and it went past in a blur, but there were a few things that really stuck out. Our focus was that leadership begins at the feet of Jesus. The only place that we can effectively lead from is His feet, resting in His presence.
On Saturday morning, Brent talked about re-imagining things to be how God intended them when He created them, and how the Bible is His grand story, so our imaginations should reflect that. During the last session, Ed talked about how we are created to be worshipers of God. Any other identity is secondary. And therefore, the leaders who think, dream, and lead from a place of worship, a place of resting at the feet of Jesus, are the truly effective leaders.
Also, I got to see The Museum live (remember Friday's post?). I talked with them on Friday night, and they signed my shirt. I told them about the dress project, and they were so gracious and encouraging. Their music and the incredible speakers and messages combined to make an amazing conference.
I'll leave you with my favorite quote from the weekend. Ed said something on Saturday like,
I'm like a turtle on a fence post. I don't know how I got here, but the view is incredible!
Yeah, that pretty much sums up how I'm feeling about this project and the opportunities that God has given me lately. Speaking of which, be on the lookout for something super fun that will be coming your way soon!
