Not long ago, I got an email from Brittany. She told me that she had been following my blog, and she wanted to donate. She asked me about a few organizations that she was thinking about giving to, and then, last week, emailed me to let me know that she had given. She chose to give to an organization called Alabaster Jar where a friend of hers is currently serving. I thought you might like to hear from her about why she chose to donate, so without further ado, I give you Brittany:
Back in January a friend of mine shared a link to this blog on facebook. Intrigued by the concept and the dedication it involved, I decided to follow the blog, and since I care about the problem of slavery, I thought that I would like to donate, too. However, I made a choice to wait.
Partially that was because I wanted to see if this girl actually had the gumption to carry out this concept longer than a month (and so you have... way to go, Bethany!!!), and partially, perhaps, is pure procrastination. Then, one day I stumbled across a verse in Proverbs "Do not say to your neighbor, 'Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it'—when you have it with you." (Proverbs 3:28)
Immediately I thought of the One Dress project and my intention, all those months ago, to give. The verse right before this one says "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it."
So then, if it is in your power, I encourage all you blog followers out there to donate in honor of Bethany and the many precious people out there in bondage right now. I think they're due some good. :-)
So now, I ask you: What's keeping you from giving? Will you step out and make a difference today?
