I spent last week at the beach with 160 of my closest friends. There were students from five youth groups in Georgia and Florida, and when we get together for retreats, it’s really more like a giant, extended, spiritual family. The retreat was called Adrenaline and our theme for the week was The Amazing Race (Hebrews 12:1-3). We had incredible worship times and learned so much through the teachings and the opportunity to do life together for a week.
On Thursday, I found out (along with everyone else there) that we were going to collect an offering and that it would be given to my dress project. That evening, students were invited to bring their money up and leave it in a hat on the stage as we begun worship. I was already standing towards the front with some of my friends, and so I had the privilege of watching as a stream of teenagers (and adults) brought money forward. The total from that night was $384.09.
We decided to give it to The A21 Campaign. They work in Greece, the Ukraine, and Bulgaria to rescue girls and women from human trafficking.
To my incredible Adrenaline friends: Thank you! God is using you and your willingness to give more than you can possibly imagine. And thank you so much for the way that each of you encouraged me. To those of you who took the time to talk with me about the project, you were a blessing, as were those of you who gave. I feel beyond blessed to be part of such a wonderful family and I can’t wait to see what God continues to do in and through all of you!
