Sometimes, the Christmas story seems to get old and tired. I've grown up around it my entire life, heard it told year after year, and after a while, it seems to loose its magic. I forget that it's really actually true. And sometimes, I need to be reminded. Last week, I had the privilege of hearing Andrew Peterson & Co. present Behold the Lamb of God: The True Tall Tale of the Coming of Christ, and I began to remember. The stories are true. God wrapped in flesh was born in a stable for me. And as tall and wild and chaotic the tale of His birth appears, it is the truth that brings me hope.
Gather round, ye children come, Listen to the old, old story, Of the power of death undone, By an Infant born of Glory. -Andrew Peterson
As you rush around today getting those last few gifts, as you begin to gather with your family and pick up old traditions, may you be reminded. Not just in your head, but in your heart. He has come, and He has come to set you free.
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. -Luke 2:11
